Safiri – A Travel Bingo Board for the Soulful Explorer
Safiri – a Kiswahili verb meaning “to travel” – is more than just a bingo board. It’s a beautifully designed, intention-filled travel companion that invites you to slow down and be present wherever your journey takes you.
 
Rooted in the richness of language, “safiri” comes from Kiswahili, and is itself borrowed from the Arabic word “safara” (سَافَرَ) – meaning to travel or to make a journey. This word carries with it a long tradition of movement, connection, and exploration across cultures and centuries.
 
🌿 How It Began
For a long time, I couldn’t travel abroad,  not even to see my own family in Kenya. When I finally made that first homecoming trip, I created a bingo board filled with the simple, mundane little things I had missed over the years: climbing a tree, catching up on trending music, driving on the other side of the road.
 
That practice, of noticing, of remembering, has stayed with me. Now, I use this board to stay grounded and intentional with every journey I take. It helps me reconnect with my roots, and make peace with the immense privilege that is traveling freely across borders for pleasure.
